The GREVIS Group is a union of contemporary sculptors Volodymyr Levis and Ernest
Yemeliantsev, who prefer light and moldable materials.
The artists work with plastics, resins, wood, and polyurethane.
Their artistic way is inspired by the works of Claes Oldenburg, who has shown that the
sculpture of a spoon can become a symbol of the city (with his “Spoonbridge and Cherry”
being emblematic of Minneapolis), while a pocketknife can be turned into a gondola.
Volodymyr Levis lives and works in Kyiv, having graduated from the Department of
Economics of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Ernest Yemeliantsev lives
and works in Tel Aviv.
Button is nostalgic reference to childhood and lost family connections, absorbed in the ever-expanding flow of information. A long time ago, when the trees were small, a buttons was lost on this birch lawn. As the trees grew over the years, so did the button, and now it is an integral part of the birch grove landscape as the trees themselves.
